Today’s card “you warm my heart” is designed for the sketch over at i Love Card Sketches.
I haven’t had much opportunity to play with the Sheltering Tree stamp set. The stamp set has a couple of nice greetings and I can envision a set of cards for spring, summer, fall and winter. It should be great to use for masculine as well as feminine cards. Now I just have to get busy “playing”.
The tree is done in Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush. I wanted a muted effect so all the colors are stamped off first. I learned this neat trick for the foliage on the tree. Use the back of the stamp to add the Pistachio Pudding and then turn the stamp over and add the Strawberry Slush blossoms. You can use this technique with a lot of the photopolymer stamps if you want a solid image reverse of the original. I haven’t tried it, but I bet the clear stamps wouldn’t stick to the acrylic block very well if you try to use the reverse. It is worth a try though.
The little trick you can see in the greeting. This stamp image is all one line. Use a Stampin’ marker to color 1/2 of the image at a time so you can spread the greeting to two lines.
