Birthday CardBest Day Ever birthday card is designed based on Mojo Monday card sketch.

Another card in my birthday series-created for my middle son who turns 45 in a few weeks.  I thought the black and vanilla monochromatic colors would fit right in for the occasion.

This is a quick and easy card even though there are several layers.  The lines are softened by the rounded corners and the circle.

Cut the shapes, sponge the front elements, and stamp the sentiment.  I love the stamp sets like Birthday Blossoms that have sentiments to mix and match like this.  The third message inside, of course, is the Happy Birthday stamp surrounded with sponged black.

birthday card

birthday card insideCelebrate Birthday Card is the beginning of my birthday season. Design follows a card sketch over at Mojo Monday.

Over the next six weeks I have several family birthdays, many of them male.  Usually this time of year you will see holiday cards being featured, but not for me.  I need to get busy and so this is my first one for our eldest son.

It looks a little complex, but most of the design is created with the Bohemian Designer Series Paper with very little stamping.  The front of the card is layered with card stock and the Designer Series Paper.  On the inside I added a block of color and the sentiment.

Christmas CardTime for Tinsel Christmas card is designed for a card sketch challenge.  I enjoy using card sketches to start the creative process.

What do I do next when designing a card?  Once I have a general idea of the shapes I want, I look to colors.  I knew I wanted to use Silver Glimmer paper snowflakes and to me that means a cooler color scheme such as the blues.

Actually unless I have a specific theme such as Christmas or a birthday or get well wishes, I choose the sentiment based on the room I have available.  Silver snowflakes usually mean Christmas or winter so those are the stamp sets I look for in my stash.  Sometimes I will have a specific message I want to include and then I choose the layers to match the size and shape of the sentiment.

If I were to re-make this card, I might add some texture to the blue layers – maybe some small polka dot embossed pattern.

I would love to know what aspects of the card do you plan first or last.  Please leave your comments below or Email Me with your suggestions and share your card design.

All Occasional CardGo Team is designed for a card sketch challenge.  It could be used as an encouragement card, get well card, just because card or even a birthday card.  You can switch up the color scheme to match the recipient’s team colors.  It is football season again and anyone who follows the sport would appreciate this card.  I know two of my grandsons will be getting one in orange and black for the Oregon State Beavers.

The card is relatively quick & easy to create and assemble.  Punch or cut the circles, add a little texture to the background and a sentiment and you are finished.

Sometimes it is hard to find a stamp set for teens or males.  With the Simply Sports stamp set, it is easy to switch out the sport theme, choose their favorite team colors and you are well on your way to letting a special young adult know you care.

get wellHow Are You?  Today’s tall & skinny get well card can also be used for just keeping in touch.  I had it in mind for a get well card, but the inside is blank and would make a perfect note card for male or female.

The tall & skinny style card fits into a common #6 3/4 envelope.  This card measures 3 1/2″ X 6″ giving you a little extra height.

The only stamping on the card is for the three small hexagons down the center.  The tiny hexagons are cut from Very Vanilla using the Hexagon Hive Thinlits.  I just cut a few of the hexagons and stamped them.  The Hello Honey layers are punched out.  And, the background layer of Crumb Cake is run through the Honeycomb embossing folder.

Once the elements for the card are created they are easy to assemble with glue and dimensionals.

Birthday CardToday’s card sketch at i Love Card Sketches inspired this Happy Birthday Balloon Card.ILCS43

This card is quick and easy.  It has minimal stamping and the pieces can be simply cut rectangles from card stock and Designer Series Paper.  The framelits let you quickly and easily cut the balloon and bow.

I added a touch of sparkle to the balloon dots and to “Happy” by using 2-way glue and glitter.  Once the glue is dry, the glitter is burnished by rubbing over it and brushing off the excess glitter.  This makes the card glisten without showering the recipient with loose glitter.

Best WishesThe Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper makes this Wedding Card a snap to put together.  Using the Corner Garden stamp to coordinate with the Designer Series Paper ties the the theme together.

I used Silver embossing powder to make the sentiment pop and to add a bit of sparkle.  The heart in the center has several layers of the Silver embossing powder and is attached with a glue dot to make sure it stays in place.

iLCS40 card_medToday’s Bohemian Thinking of You card is designed for i Love Card Sketches.

This is perfect for using scraps of Designer Series Paper.  These pieces are all from the Bohemian collection.  Once the strips of paper are glued in place, the Boho Chic embossing folder is used to emboss the entire card front.

The card stock coordinates with the colors in the Designer Series Paper.  A little bling is added at the edge of the paper and sprinkled on the overlapping circles.

This is a quick and easy card for almost any occasion.

Thank You CardToday’s Grateful card is designed for the card sketch at i Love Card Sketches.

This is a quick and easy card.  I used the Simply Scored with the diagonal plate to create the diagonal embossed lines to match the diagonal lines in the small squares of Designer Series Paper.  The Designer Series Paper is layered over coordinating card stock and the Mint Macaron lace trim helps to pull the color scheme together.

Stampin’ Up! products are so easy to use because the papers, card stock, ink, and embellishments all go together.  When you take a look at the Designer Series Paper in the Stampin’ Up! catalog, you will find coordinating card stock packs.  Buy a package of Designer Series Paper and the coordinating card stock pack and you have a great start to fun creativity.
