Today’s holiday offering is a Christmas Star Ornament.
I started out wanting to create an ornament inside the star shape. It was difficult to stabilize the star shape. It needs some kind of structure to hold it, so I attached the inside (valley) edges of the star to a circle of heavy paper (the inserts from Designer Series Paper packs) on both sides.
The star shape is created with a 1/2″ strip of glimmer paper. I attached two 6 1/2″ strips together and then trimmed 1/2″ off one end. You end up with a strip that is 12 1/2″ long. Score each 1 1/2″ along the length of the strip. Accordion fold the strip. Overlap the two ends and glue together.
The inside ornament is cut from Cherry Cobbler card stock and backed with Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper.
To finish, attach a small strip of Silver ribbon through a hole punched in the top point of the star.
These Star Ornaments are relatively easy and quick to assemble. Don’t stop with just one. Make several for your Christmas tree or to give as small gifts or package decorations.
