Birthday CardToday’s Birthday Blossoms Card is designed for this weeks’ card sketch at i Love Card Sketches.

I had so much fun making this card.  I did some water coloring for the flowers and leaves and I tried sponging with a new-to-me Decorative Mask.  The jute ribbon only comes in white so I got to give it a good wash of Mint Macaron ink.

And….I got to try the new Fine-Tip Glue Pen to add a little gloss to the flower centers.  The glue pen is on page 43 in the new Holiday Catalog that went live September 1st.  It works great for thin lines or tiny dots or to add glitter or other small embellishments.  It looks quite a bit like Crystal Effects but doesn’t have as much dimension when it dries clear.

The Holiday Catalog also introduces new Archival Stampin’ Pads in Basic Black and Basic Gray (page 19).  These are permanent inks  so they were perfect to use with my water coloring.  They also give a nice crisp image and don’t smear.

With the Decorative Mask angled, it breaks up the horizontal lines a bit. It makes the background look kind of like a basket.iLCS44

So just because the sketch is simple, you don’t have to make it plain.  Think outside the box.

Come up with your own version using the sketch and share it at i Love Card Sketches.
